South Norwood Community Kitchen uses food to bring people together and build power. They focus first on meeting the needs of their community, providing community lunches and a safe and accessible space. They then work with these communities to build power and solidarity across a range of common experiences. Their organising has already led to new council homes; the distribution of £500,000 to residents exploited by their landlords; and halting discriminatory legislation around street drinking. The Community Action Fund will support a part-time Community Organiser to continue this work.
